Mrs. Ashley Vickers

Welcome to fifth grade! What an exciting year you have ahead of you. We are so thrilled to meet each of you, and work hard to make this a terrific school year! This is my twentieth year teaching at Highland Lakes School. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to work here and collaborate with my amazing co-workers and friends, Mrs. Coco and Mrs. Heeb. I have always loved school. After graduating from Paradise Valley High School, I attended Northern Arizona University and obtained my bachelors degree in Public Relations. A few years later, I  received my Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix.

I have been married to Tom (my awesome hubby) for almost 19 years now, and together we have four children.  Lacey, an NAU graduate, lives in Scottsdale and is pursuing a career in forensic banking.
Hunter is currently completed 6 years in the Army working as a Combat Medic, with 2 deployments under his belt. He is currently going to flight school in Tulsa, OK.  Eli is my third child to graduate from DVHS, and just moved back from two years exploring Utah with friends and figuring out life.  My youngest, McKarthi (who is turning 14 years old) will be a Freshman at Mountain Ridge. We have a blue, Cane Corse puppy who weighs roughly 100 lbs, and a chihuahua named Tilly (after Pat Tillman) and a really busy household, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

When I am not in school...I love spending time with my family and friends. We spend most of our free time camping, at Lake Pleasant or Mormon Lake Lodge. We love the outdoors and the smell of smores on the big open campfire. Personally, I love movies, road trips, vacations at the beach, or lounging by my pool with my friends and family.

Some of my favorite things are a Starbucks coffee on a cold rainy morning, hot tamales or Good & Plenty at the movies, an ice cold diet coke and a toasty "HOT BAGEL"  with cream cheese! I love to laugh and try to have as much fun as I can with my students.  Oh...and shopping (my other passion) I can't forget that! Costco is by far my favorite store-:)

I am so lucky to be part of such a great school with so many amazing teachers and students on our campus. I can hardly wait to meet each one of you and start another journey on our way to success! Lots of love...Mrs. Vickers
